HOW TO SELECT YOUR BUS PICKUP LOCATION

Marathon Transportation

Taking the free race-provided transportation to the start is required (unless you are staying in Big Sur) if you are participating in the Marathon (including Boston 2 Big Sur & Big Sur VIP).  Highway 1 is closed to private vehicles early race morning and there is no parking or runner drop off at any start area.  All participants in the Marathon will be given the opportunity to select their preferred pickup location in March 2024 through their haku participant account.  Those who pre-select a pickup location through their haku account will pick up their bus ticket along with their bib number at the expo.  All participants who do not pre-select a bus pickup location will be directed to the Transportation booth at the Health & Fitness Expo to pick up their bus ticket, map and any information based on remaining bus pickup options.

Return shuttles will leave from the finish village between 9:30 AM and 2 PM, taking runners back to their morning departure locations

Highway 1 is closed to private vehicles early race morning and there is no parking or runner drop off at any start area.  All participants in the 21-Miler and 11-Miler will be given the opportunity to select their preferred pickup location in March 2024 through their haku participant account. There is only one transportation option for those running the Relay (Monterey Peninsula College) and these runners will not need to pre-select a pickup location.

Big Sur Lodging and Transportation

For runners staying in Big Sur hotels, motels, and campgrounds, there will be two race-morning shuttles running continuous loops on Highway 1 from 4:45 until 5:45 AM to collect runners and shuttle them to the start line. One shuttle will do a continuous loop of about two miles north of the start (to River Inn) and another a two-mile loop south of the start (to Deetjen’s). Runners will wait on Highway 1 for this shuttle to take them to the start. There will be shuttles from the finish area back to Big Sur between about 9:30 AM and 2 PM. Please stop by the transportation desk at the expo for more details.
