First, we want to thank you for your patience and support over these past few weeks as our board, staff, and volunteers worked to navigate this new reality. Our staff and volunteer family also continue to grapple with the grief of recently losing one of our long-time volunteers to this terrible virus. Your kind words have touched our hearts and are appreciated by our Big Sur Marathon community.
Today we announce that the 2020 Big Sur Marathon is rescheduled for Sunday, November 15, 2020. We are adding the Marathon and other distance races originally planned for April 26 to our Monterey Bay Half Marathon weekend. All April race distances except the 5K and 3K will be held on Sunday, November 15 in their original locations on Highway 1.
The Monterey Bay Half Marathon will now be on Saturday, November 14, one day earlier than originally scheduled, and on its regular course in Monterey and Pacific Grove. Those who entered the April 5K will automatically be registered for a new 5K to be integrated within the Half Marathon on November 14. The By-the-Bay 3K will not be held this year.
You may have some questions about this plan. For more information, please visit our FAQ page.
We hope to see all of you in November but we understand that this date may not work for everyone. If you cannot join us this fall, you have two options:
- Defer to our April 25, 2021 race weekend with a guaranteed entry at 60% off the current entry fee.
- Defer to our April 24, 2022 race weekend with a guaranteed entry at 60% off the current entry fee.
All April race entrants (except those in the 3K) should have received an email with a link to select their choice. We ask that you please make your selection by May 12, 2020 so that we can finalize our plans for a safe and successful November race weekend. If you do not choose an option, your registration will automatically move to the rescheduled November race. If you need to receive this link again, email the registrar at email@example.com or call (831) 713-2227 for registration technical support.
The Big Sur Marathon Foundation wishes you and your family the best during these difficult times.
