Multiple charities offer registration opportunities for sold-out

2017 Big Sur International Marathon

The Big Sur International Marathon organization is excited to announce a new partnership with CrowdRise as its online fundraising platform for their ‘family of events.’

Kicking off with the April 2017 Big Sur International Marathon, more than a dozen charities are able to raise funds from participants dedicated to running for a specific cause.  From the National Parkinson Foundation to Save the Children to Autism Speaks and several more, more than 300 runners will have access to the sold-out Big Sur International Marathon and other distances while making a difference in the lives of others. Plus, other registered runners have the ability to fundraise for any cause of their choice for the marathon.

CrowdRise offers an easy-to-use interface for individuals searching for the best charity fit. Within the platform they can proactively send messaging to their contacts to join them in their fundraising efforts, and be listed with ongoing amounts raised.  The charity too, will show a running tally of funds raised and all will be collected into the Big Sur Marathon database.

“Partnering with CrowdRise allows us to more easily manage our charity program and provide more choices for interested participants,” said Doug Thurston, Executive Director of the Big Sur International Marathon organization. “We’ll now be able to better track the impact of funds raised through our events.”

The Big Sur Marathon organization will also use CrowdRise for its other races to involve both partner charities as well as give registered runners an opportunity to set up their own fundraising page for a charity of their choice.  Currently the organization’s June race, Run in the Name of Love, uses CrowdRise to collect direct donations from both individuals and sponsors, attesting to the versatility of the program.

“We are so excited to be working with the Big Sur International Marathon,” said Bryan Lively, VP Sales & Customer Success at CrowdRise. “They are a team of dedicated individuals who pride themselves on putting together beautiful events with purpose. Together we will provide the charity community a world class experience through innovation and functionality to help runners raise more money than they ever thought was possible.”

Partner charities for the 2017 Big Sur International Marathon are: Alliance for a Healthier Generation, Boomer Esiason Foundation, Children of Peru, Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation, Every Mother Counts, Inheiritance of Hope, KultureCity, Lazarex Cancer Foundation, Move for Hunger, National Parkinson Foundation, Real Buzz Charities (Street Child U.S., Children’s Tumor Foundation, Project Purple), Save the Children, Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund, Wildfire Hearts Hands Feet, and Zero: The End of Prostate Cancer.
