The Random Drawing Opens Wednesday, August 19th at 8 AM PT

The random drawing will be open for two weeks (August 19 – September 2) and random drawing winners will be announced on September 8th.

Guaranteed Marathon Entry Paths (Opens Aug. 19 at 8 AM PT)

Bypass the random drawing and guarantee your registration with one of these first-come, first-serve entry paths which open August 19, 2026.

 

Non-Marathon Race Distances (Opens Sept. 10 at 8 AM PT)

All remaining distances (Relay, 21-Miler, 11-Miler, 12K, 5K) open for registration on a first-come, first-served basis on September 10th, 2026.

Boston 2 Big Sur Challenge (Opens Oct. 14 at 8AM PT)

You do not need to enter the random drawing if you are registering for the Boston 2 Big Sur Challenge. General registration for the Boston 2 Big Sur Challenge Presented by HOKA will open to the public on a first-come, first-served basis on October 14, 2026. To qualify for this program, you must also be an official entrant in the April 2027 Boston Marathon.

 

How the Random Drawing Work

When you apply for the General Registration Drawing, you will complete a full registration form and enter your payment information. If selected on September 8th, your application will be approved and your credit card will automatically be charged the registration fee and any additional add-ons you selected during registration. At that time, you will receive an email confirming your approval and no further action will be required to secure your entry. If you are not selected, you will also be notified via email.

 

Monterey County Residents

Monterey County Residents will receive special instructions on August 19th to enter the drawing. Monterey County Residents wishing to register for another race distance (Relay, 21-Miler, 11-Miler, 12K, & 5K) should register on September 10th when they open to the general public on a first-come, first-served basis.

 

Deferrals

Those who deferred their registration from last year’s marathon can expect to receive email instructions on August 19th on how to claim their deferral. Please reach out to registration@bsim.org with any questions.
