Join HydraPak and the Big Sur Marathon Foundation’s efforts to reduce single-use waste by pledging to run a cupless race.

TAKE THE PLEDGE:

Registered participants in the 2022 Big Sur Marathon and related race weekend events are invited to opt-in to a cupless racing experience. The first 4,000 participants to take the cupless pledge will receive a free Big Sur Marathon HydraPak SpeedCup for use at aid stations in lieu of single-use cups.

Why Should I Run a Cupless Race?

Runners can reduce waste and their environmental footprint by choosing to run a cupless race. Instead of using multiple single-use cups, runners carry a HydraPak SpeedCup or other hydration device for filling at aid stations.

HydraPak and the Big Sur Marathon Foundation are aiming for a 33% opt-in rate for participants across all race weekend events, thereby eliminating tens of thousands of single use cups on course.

    What is a SpeedCup?

HydraPak’s collapsible and reusable SpeedCup was designed specifically for runners as an alternative to single-use cups at race events. Lightweight and flexible, it can be collapsed and stuffed in pockets or carried using the integrated finger loop.

Be sure to have your SpeedCup or hydration vessel accessible as you approach each aid station – volunteers will be prepared to quickly fill up your cup as you run by.

    How Do I Sign Up?

Runners who complete their cupless race pledge can pick up their free SpeedCup at HydraPak’s booth at packet pick up on the expo floor.

Participants can continue to take the pledge at the Expo, however, cups are limited to the first 4,000 registrants. Additional hydration options and systems including SpeedCups will be available for purchase at the Expo.

** Please note that the Big Sur 12K will be a fully cupless race. All 12K participants will receive a HydraPak SpeedCup for use on course at their bib pickup in the De Anza Ballroom of the Monterey Conference Center **
